Wednesday, February 15, 2012 Over My Shoulder

[Jacket: vintage] [Jean shirt: Gap] [Blouse: F21] [Jeans: Gap] [Shoes: Frye] [Purse: Celine] [Sunnies: Moscot]

These photos were taken by my dear friend from college, an amazing photographer, Andrea Dicenzo. She is a California girl, but has spent most of her years after college in New York and in London, snapping away to great acclaim.  Check out her blog here.  Also, don't let the sunshine fool you, these photos were taken before the new year.  I have been saving them for just the right time, like an Ace up my sleeve.  I am in Sevilla, Spain, escaping the freezing temperatures, drinking far too much wine, soaking up the sun and adjusting to Spanish time (which means slowing life down, way down).

When the weather is -8 Celsius, there is nothing better (and more French) than spending the day inside the first and most fancy department store, Le Bon Marche, followed with afternoon tea at Laduree.

We had to go to the US Embassy yesterday, and for some strange reason, I was really excited. Maybe I was having a touch of homesickness, so I dressed up for the occasion, the occasion being running an errand, silly, I know.
Monday, January 23, 2012 Always a Classic

[Dress: St. John's Knit] [Heels: UO] [everything else: vintage]

Now I know there is something about a St. John's knit.  I had never tried one on until my mom pulled her's out - it just hung dully from the hanger, and then I tried it on and fell in love.   It felt like an instant classic.

Monday, January 16, 2012 Never-Ending Flea Markets

Paris is known for many things, one of which being, the phenomenal flea markets.  You can find almost anything you think you want or need, and then things you didn't know you wanted or needed, and I found my favorite market yet this weekend.

I have gone to the flea markets in the North, near Porte de Clignancourt, a number of times, and I have never left with anything other than some spices (that I have yet to use).  Part of this is because everything seemed was either over priced, or a knock off of some sort.  But problems solved, I went to the Marche aux Puces in the South, near Porte de Vanves, and finally felt like I found the market for me.  From vintage furs, to rhinestone necklaces, to funky art, tools, Scandinavian furniture, dishes from the 18th century.  The list goes on.  I picked up one of those aforementioned rhinestone necklaces for 10 euros, quite a steal, along with some silk scarves and gorgeous gold tea cups.  All in all a successful trip for me, who otherwise has rarely brought out the money purse in other Parisian flea markets

Wednesday, December 14, 2011 Little Details

[Cardigan: Solemio] [Skirt: my grandma's vintage] [Jacket: my grandma's vintage] [Brooch: vintage] [Nailpolish: OPI Here Today...Aragon Tomorrow]

Yesterday I woke up to the pouring rain and a dark sky.  I decided it was a day to spend inside, catching up on work and life.  But as lunchtime came around, the sky opened up, the sun came out and not a cloud could be seen.  So my first plan got scratched and the great outdoors of Paris needed some exploring, with the pup of course, in this Spring time getup (with a big jacket!).

I put this happy outfit on when it was raining, thinking I would spend the day inside.  If I am going to be inside all day, I still like to get properly dressed (I wore a lot of sweats when I was studying for the Bar), but it turned out to be perfect outfit for the latter half of the day too.  Sometimes it is all in the details.  A cardigan worn backwards, a brooch placed in a new place, a few fancy bracelets left to stand alone.

Wednesday, November 16, 2011 Possibilities beyond the Black and White

"Life isn't about finding yourself.  Life is about creating yourself." - George Bernard Shaw

Despite the connectivity of the internet, the blogosphere, Facebook and Skype (just to name a few), I often enjoy walking the streets of Paris knowing that no one knows me here.  Before this move, I had lived in San Francisco for so long, made so many memories and so many friends, that it never crossed my mind to approach new encounters and new circumstances as if I were new too.   No matter where I am, each day holds the possibility to become the person I want to become (and I hope I am on my way), but I feel that possibility with much more poignancy living thousands of miles away from the city I know myself so well in.

A quick outfit post from rainy Paris, taken a few days before I left for Spain.

Saturday, October 1, 2011 Paris Fashion Week Favorites Round Up
Yes! That is Rachel Zoe - and she walked right on past me at the Christian Dior show  - snap snap

Just a collection of some of my favorite images I snapped during Paris Fashion Week.  As soon as I uploaded these, I realized I spent most of my time looking down at people's incredible shoes.  I am off to San Sebastian, Spain to see my sweet little sis - I can't wait!!!
